Programme
As toddlers grow more curious about the world around them, our Playgroup programme welcomes children aged 18 to 30 months into a warm, bilingual environment where learning happens naturally through play and exploration.
Building on the foundation you’ve created at home, our programme helps young learners develop communication skills, independence, and strong social-emotional foundations. With small class sizes and a cohesive approach, Hess Preschool offers a reassuring start to your child’s preschool experience, nurturing the confidence and skills they need for their learning adventure ahead.
Designed as an entry point to early preschool learning, our approach helps toddlers build communication skills, independence, and strong social-emotional foundations. With small class sizes and a cohesive approach, Hess Preschool offers a reassuring start to your child’s learning journey, nurturing within them the best skills and confidence to progress with ease.
INTRODUCTION
Our Playgroup programme and play-based approach naturally integrate social, emotional, and motor development, adapting to each child’s developmental pace. Through bilingual exposure, guided play, and purposeful routines, children begin building the skills needed for communication, coordination, and social interaction. Every experience is thoughtfully designed for a lifelong love of discovery while setting the stage for success in their preschool journey.
CURRICULUM HIGHLIGHTS
Our Playgroup curriculum introduces toddlers to essential skills through purposeful experiences that build confidence, communication, and early coordination. Each area supports steady development and prepares children for the next stage of early preschool learning.
Fostering first friendships through guided sharing, turn-taking, and small group interactions
Through stories, simple group projects, and role-play, children practise expressing themselves kindly while learning to collaborate with others.
Establishing comforting daily routines within a warm, nurturing environment
Visual prompts, repeated vocabulary, and bilingual instructions support smoother participation and reinforce early self-management skills.
Strengthening fine and gross motor abilities through hands-on experiences with blocks, art materials, and movement games
Hands-on STEAM experiences, such as building, sorting, and experimenting, support both physical development and early problem-solving skills.
Develop communication through rhymes, storytelling, and rich conversations that build vocabulary and listening skills
Sound play, picture cues, and bilingual dialogue introduce early literacy concepts in an engaging, age-appropriate way.
In our Playgroup programme, every child receives guidance from educators who understand the pace and needs of early development. With a low teacher-to-child ratio of 1:6, toddlers benefit from individual attention during routines, exploration, and early learning experiences. This allows educators to respond to each child’s interests, offer timely support, and create a space where children feel encouraged to participate and try new skills.
As children grow, our MOE-aligned preschool curriculum progresses with them, introducing more structured language, numeracy, and project-based activities in a way that remains age-appropriate. This strategic increase in challenge helps toddlers gain confidence, independence, and readiness for the next stage of preschool. Throughout the year, teachers work closely with families to share observations, celebrate progress, and ensure that every child’s development is supported with intention and care.
Each day in our Playgroup classroom gives your toddler the comfort of familiar routines with plenty of space to explore and learn. From morning greetings and circle time to music, movement, outdoor play, and early language exposure, each activity is paced to match how young children learn best. With structure and hands-on experiences woven throughout the day, your child gains confidence, curiosity, and a growing sense of independence.

WHY CHOOSE US
Hess Preschool’s Playgroup programme is shaped by the understanding that these early years offer a crucial window of opportunity for building confidence, communication, and curiosity.
Small class ratios allow our educators to guide each toddler with care and clarity. With closer supervision, children gain confidence as they participate in routines, group activities, and early learning experiences. This supportive environment ensures every child moves forward at a pace that reflects their strengths and readiness.
Daily exposure to both languages helps toddlers develop early communication habits that prepare them for future literacy. Through stories, songs, simple conversations, and engaging activities, children become familiar with sounds, vocabulary, and expression, building a steady base for confident reading, listening, and speaking as they grow.
Our teachers bring an understanding of early childhood development and a commitment to helping children thrive. They create an encouraging environment where toddlers feel comfortable trying new skills, exploring ideas, and expressing themselves, setting the stage for positive learning habits that continue throughout their preschool years.
Our playgroup programme strengthens social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development through engaging, hands-on experiences. Children explore themes, practise routines, collaborate in group activities, and build core skills that prepare them for the structured learning ahead.
