WHERE LEARNING MEETS FUN, INNOVATION, AND REAL-WORLD RELEVANCE

Welcome to the Hess preschool experience in Singapore

At Hess Preschool, every child begins an educational journey shaped by curiosity and discovery. From 18 months to six years old, our Early Childhood Programme is intentionally designed to grow with your child, balancing hands-on exploration with strong academic foundations for years to come.

BILINGUAL CURICULUM

As an excellence-driven preschool in Singapore, we offer a bilingual, hands-on, and comprehensive curriculum that prepares children well for Primary School.

TEACHER-CHILD RATIO

With a low teacher-child ratio and a nurturing environment, every child receives the attention they need to thrive.

Guided, Purposeful play

Each day blends purposeful play, guided exploration, and age-appropriate academic learning so children develop strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.

Your child’s learning adventure begins here. We invite you to explore our programmes and discover how Hess Preschool can nurture your child’s unique potential.

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

At Hess Preschool, our curriculum is built on a clear belief: children learn best when they feel engaged, supported, and encouraged to explore. Designed for ages 18 months to six years, our approach blends bilingual thematic learning, hands-on experiences, and structured academic guidance to nurture the whole child socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically.

Each learning environment is intentionally set up to support inquiry. Children observe, experiment, build, question, and collaborate as they move through projects that connect naturally to literacy, numeracy, science, and the arts. These experiences help them apply concepts in real and practical ways, strengthening both understanding and confidence.

Daily English–Chinese immersion supports strong language development, while phonics, storytelling, and discussions build a solid foundation for early reading and communication. Mathematics is introduced through the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) method, allowing children to grasp concepts step by step before moving into more abstract thinking.

Across all levels, children learn to express themselves, manage emotions, work with peers, and develop habits that support independence and responsibility. With guidance from experienced educators, they grow into curious learners equipped with skills that prepare them for Primary School and the years ahead.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Hess Preschool

PLAYGROUP

Our Playgroup programme welcomes toddlers into a nurturing setting where early routines and exploration unfold naturally. Children engage in hands-on experiences that build motor skills, early language, and awareness of the world around them. Through simple group activities, rhymes, movement, and sensory play, toddlers gain the confidence to participate, communicate, and adjust to the preschool environment.

Hess Preschool

NURSERY 1

In Nursery 1, the journey begins with hands-on learning experiences that nurture curiosity, confidence, and a love for exploration. Through thematic activities, storytelling, and creative discovery, children build early language skills and learn to express themselves. Letter sounds are introduced through the Jolly Phonics programme, and early numeracy develops through the CPA approach— starting with concrete materials children can touch and explore. Social-emotional growth is supported through daily routines that encourage sharing, turn-taking, and forming friendships.

Hess Preschool

NURSERY 2

In Nursery 2, curiosity deepens as learning becomes more structured while staying engaging. Through thematic learning and Project Adventure, children explore topics in depth—connecting language, numeracy, and discovery.
Language skills expand through richer vocabulary, storytelling, and early reading, while the Jolly Phonics programme builds phonemic awareness and letter recognition. Mathematics develops through the CPA approach—using concrete materials before moving to pictures and symbols. Social-emotional growth continues through collaboration and growing independence.

KINDERGARTEN 1

In Kindergarten 1, foundations from earlier years grow stronger as children prepare for more structured learning. Literacy skills advance through blending, segmenting, and early reading, while writing becomes more purposeful. Mathematics deepens through the CPA approach, with a focus on number sense, patterns, and simple operations. Social-emotional skills develop further as children learn to manage emotions, work with others, and take on small responsibilities.

KINDERGARTEN 2

In Kindergarten 2, independence grows as children prepare for Primary School. They master all 42 letter sounds through the Jolly Phonics programme and develop Mandarin literacy through Chinese Pinyin— reading and writing with confidence. Mathematics advances through the CPA approach, building skills in fractions, addition, and subtraction. Empathy, teamwork, and responsibility grow alongside academic readiness.

BILINGUAL & ACADEMIC PRESCHOOL IN SINGAPORE

At Hess Preschool, language forms the foundation of confident learning. Your child engages with English and Chinese every day— through stories, conversations, shared reading, and projects. These experiences help them understand, express, and participate in both languages, growing into clear communicators who enjoy using language in meaningful ways.

We also introduce systematic phonics to support early reading. Your child learns to recognise sounds, blend words, and build the literacy habits they’ll carry into Primary School.

As a private preschool on the East Coast, we place equal emphasis on communication, comprehension, and school readiness. Children learn to listen attentively and contribute during discussions— skills that support their progress across all subjects.

For families in Singapore, this steady bilingual exposure provides a strong foundation, preparing children well for Primary School and the years ahead.

DEDICATED EDUCATORS AND A NURTURING ENVIRONMENT

At Hess Preschool, your child is supported by a team of educators who approach their work with purpose and care. Each member of our teaching team is chosen for their expertise in early childhood education and their commitment to guiding young learners through these formative years. They take the time to understand your child’s strengths, interests, and needs, creating a classroom environment where your child feels seen and encouraged to take part.

Because our teacher-child ratios are low, educators can offer close attention and guidance throughout the day, whether your child is learning a new skill, navigating friendships, or building confidence during class activities. We also keep communication with parents open and consistent, so you stay connected to your child’s progress and experiences as they grow with us.

What is the teacher-to-child ratio in each age group?

Our teacher-to-child ratios are carefully designed to support each age group’s developmental needs. In our Playgroup, we maintain a ratio of 1 teacher for every 5 children, while Nursery 1 has a 1:7 ratio and Nursery 2 has a 1:10 ratio. As children grow, our Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2 classes have ratios of 1:11 and 1:12, respectively, ensuring a supportive environment at every stage of your child’s learning journey.

We offer a 10% sibling discount to families with two or more children enrolled at Hess Preschool. This discount is applied monthly to the tuition of the older child or the child with the lower monthly fee.

At Hess Preschool, we use the Taidii App to keep parents informed and engaged.

Real-Time Updates: Parents receive notifications about their child’s arrival and departure, outings, nappy changes, sleep times, meals, and any accidents. In the case of an accident, we will call you immediately for transparency and update the app accordingly.

Weekly Summaries: Child-specific updates are shared weekly, summarising how the week went and outlining the activities your child participated in.

Parent-Teacher Meetings: We conduct meetings twice a year to discuss your child’s development, milestones achieved, and the next steps for their learning journey.

This system ensures that parents are always connected and informed about their child’s experiences and progress at Hess Preschool.

Hess Preschool offers a balanced programme that supports both exploration and academic readiness. With bilingual immersion, hands-on learning, and a low teacher-child ratio, children receive the focused guidance they need to grow at each stage. We also offer a 6-month intensive bridging programme for children entering primary one.

Children engage with English and Chinese daily through stories, conversations, phonics, and role-play. This consistent exposure strengthens listening, speaking, and early reading skills, helping children communicate confidently and build strong foundations in both languages.
