INTRODUCTION
Designed for Children in the Year They Turn SIX
Kindergarten 2 marks the culmination of our children’s early learning journey at Hess Preschool, thoughtfully designed to ensure a confident transition to primary school. The programme combines academic rigour with creative exploration, strengthening literacy, numeracy, and scientific reasoning through engaging, well-rounded experiences.
At this stage, we prioritise independence, organisational skills, and real-world problem-solving. Through project-based learning and collaborative activities, children are encouraged to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and find their own solutions.
Social-emotional growth remains a central focus, fostering resilience, empathy, and teamwork whilst building confidence in self-expression. Kindergarten 2 graduates leave as curious, capable learners, ready to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.

Themes and Projects
As children grow, we explore broader themes together – from how recycling helps our community to stories from the past that shape our world. Through hands-on discovery, children experiment and build understanding of their role in the wider community.
Our K2 children dive into real-world topics like sustainability and cultural stories. As children approach primary school, themes naturally expand to include environmental care, cultural stories, and how our world connects
Show & Tell
This activity transforms into meaningful presentation opportunities where children share discoveries, demonstrate new skills, or explain creative projects. Whether presenting nature observations, or sharing family customs, children develop public speaking confidence whilst learning to be attentive listeners who ask thoughtful questions.
Language & Communication
Our bilingual programme strengthens communication skills in both Chinese and English through interactive reading and sharing activities. Teachers guide children through progressively challenging texts, facilitating discussions that deepen comprehension and critical thinking. Children explore stories, analyse characters, and connect ideas to their own experiences.
Primary 1 Bridging Programme
In preparation for formal schooling, we introduce the Hess Primary 1 Bridging Programme—a structured curriculum aligned with Primary 1 standards. This comprehensive programme strengthens essential mathematics and literacy skills through systematic instruction and examination preparation, ensuring children transition to primary school with academic readiness and confidence.
